Mr Awesome Affaire, our 2007 Appaloosa Horse Club World Champion Senior Reining stallion, is the heart and soul of High Crest Reiners, the reason we are High Crest Reiners, Inc.

This seven year old Appaloosa few-spot, snowcap stallion came home to our western Montana ranch from northern central Canada May 2002 as a two year old.

Seeking “Awesome’s” highest and best interest in his training and reining career, we were referred to a long-time reining trainer in Whitefish, Montana. He immediately recognized “Awesome’s” conformation as his great-grandsire, High Sign, an Appaloosa Horse Club 1992 Hall of Fame Inductee.

An instant connection sparked between this horse and trainer, a connection of mutual respect and trust. A quality working relationship followed.

Now, hooves on the arena floor, “Awesome” continued his reining training as we pressed on to follow the hoof prints of his long line of national and world champions.

Planning in place, “Awesome’s” 2005 “Non-Pro” reining career began at the Montana Appaloosa Horse Club 50th Anniversary Home Show in Helena, sponsored by the Vigilante Appaloosa Horse Club. Even though this was “Awesome’s” first show experience, he won seven first place awards and one second out of eight entries. These high point winnings and awards qualified him for the Appaloosa Horse Club World Championships Junior Reining in Fort Worth, Texas.  “Awesome” placed in the Appaloosa Horse Club 58th National Top Ten Junior Reining and showed in National Reining Horse Association competitions in Montana and Washington.

Realizing the need to open more competitive opportunity and momentum for “Awesome” in the Appaloosa Horse Club, Appaloosa Reining Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, and Federation Equine International, we relocated him to the southeast reining horse heartland, first transporting him south to the 2006 National Horse Club Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In the Appaloosa Horse Club Nationals, “Awesome” placed in the Top Ten Senior Reining, the “Pro” category for a six year old.

Latter December, 2006, Mr. Ronnie Wayne of Ronnie Wayne Reining Horses, LLC, Plus One Farm, Taylors, South Carolina, became “Awesome’s” official reining trainer and manager. With his reining experience, horsemanship, knowledge and international judging experience, Mr. Wayne managed “Awesome’s” 2007 show career with the following results:

  • Appaloosa Horse Club National Champion Senior Reining
  • Appaloosa Horse Club World Champion Senior Reining
  • Appaloosa Competitive All-breed Activities Program Current High Point Reining
  • Appaloosa Horse Club Museum Walk of Fame
  • Appaloosa Reining Horse Association National and World Superstakes
  • National Reining Horse Association Southeast Affiliate Reserve Champion- Open, Senior Reining
  • North American Affiliate Championship – Open Reining

Our appreciation and thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne. Their efforts and Mr. Wayne’s  management made these winnings possible.

As an Appaloosa World Champion Senior Reining stallion, and homozygous-color – producing sire, “Awesome” offers mare owners the opportunity to breed potential championship foals with 95-96 % color production. And like their sire, foals with athleticism, easy-going, willing disposition, show quality conformation, heart, and responsive quick minds.  Additionally, the Appaloosa Horse Club Breeders Trust Futurity privileges are in place for “Awesome’s” protégé.
